ARYZTA Americas operates one of the largest specialty bakery businesses servicing all major customers in the retail, foodservice, QSR and convenience store channels.

The Americas Structure includes four operating Business Units: Brazil, Canada, ARYZTA US Baking Solutions and ARYZTA US Consumer Foods, which are serviced by the Americas Central Support Functions covering areas such as Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Environmental Health & Safety, Sustainability, HR, Legal, IT, Finance Shared Services, Procurement, Category Management, and Commercialization.

The Enterprise Information Management (EIM) group ensures that relevant and correct data is available in all business processes and IT systems for the right people, in the right context, at the right time, with the right quality and appropriate security. The Data Governance team is a new function within EIM, charged with providing the structure and guidance around enterprise level data.

Job Description

The Data Governance & Quality Analyst will assist with the formation and execution of a data governance framework for the company. Assist in establishing accountability, data owners and stewards, policies and standards. Works with internal teams, business partners, and stakeholders, to gain an understanding of ARYZTA’s data needs and to support them. This is a highly visible role and will involve working on many different aspects of data governance and quality initiatives, which include areas such as policies and standards, enterprise glossary and metadata management, reference/master data management, data quality, classifications and taxonomies, business rule management, communication and training.

 Major Responsibilities

Data Governance

Works with various business partners to research, define, and document proper governance and stewardship practices, including metadata, reference data, lineage, and business rules
Develop, document, and implement data quality policies, procedures and standards, dashboards, business glossary, data dictionary, etc.
Manage communication and training with data owners/stewards to ensure awareness of policies and standards
Participates in Data Steward and/or Governance councils and forums
Support the communication and education of functional master data standards, definitions, processes, policies, and tools to functional data owners

Data Analysis/Data Quality

  • Works with data owners/stewards to ensure awareness of data quality standards and monitoring requirements
  • Creates/monitors data quality scorecards and works with data owners/stewards to resolve data quality issues
  • Data profiling to identify cleansing opportunities
  • Reviews data-related business issues and identifies root cause(s)
  • Contributes towards reporting designs that rely on various data attributes


  • Support research of Data Governance methodologies and tools
  • Manage internal-facing tools and dashboards that house data standards, metadata, reference data, glossary, data quality results, etc.
  • Research and understand business unit process flows and map out workflows for future deployment of workflow tool
  • Act as a trusted advisor and Center of Excellence for SAP master data and related business processes.
  • Supports corporate/business unit level projects that involve master data

Required Skills

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of master data elements, processes, and organizational support model from business and technical perspectives required
  • Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality programs (DAMA-DMBOK concepts and methodologies for example)
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with business partners and SMEs to be able to educate and influence data stewards, data owners and stakeholders
  • Project management skills/certification helpful
  • Technical proficiency with MS Office, including Access and Visio
  • Working knowledge of relational database and query concepts 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, IT or related field required
  • 6+ years’ experience in a combination of roles that progressively builds on Master Data Management and Data Governance disciplines
  • Must have recent experience in a Data Governance oriented role
  • Prior exposure to Data Governance councils and forums
  • Experience writing policies and procedures
  • Experience with data dictionary, metadata management
  • SAP or other ERP system master data experience
  • SAP Information Steward or other data quality and/or data governance tool experience desired
  • Experience with Material master, BOMs, Recipes aspects, PLM/WM/QM, Production Planning, Forecasting processes desired
  • Exposure to other master data areas like Vendor/Customer masters, Pricing, etc.
